"Don't that look good. You wanna get in? Huh?"
— Bernadette encouraging Tina Goldstein to enter the death potion[src]

Bernadette was an American witch who worked for the Magical Congress of the United States of America as an Executioner in 1926.[1]

Biography[]

After Gellert Grindelwald (disguised as Percival Graves) sentenced Newt Scamander and Tina Goldstein to death, Bernadette helped lead them to the Death cell. She extracted Tina's memories and cast them in the death potion and encouraged her to get in.[2] Just as her fellow executioner was about to do the same to Newt, he broke free (his pet Bowtruckle having picked the lock on his handcuffs) and unleashed his Swooping Evil which knocked out the third executioner. The second executioner tried to use her wand on Newt, but he redirected her aim so that she hit Bernadette with a Stunning Spell instead, rendering Bernadette unconcious. With no backup, the second executioner was then knocked out and Newt managed to save Tina from her execution, leaving Bernadette and her fellow executioners alone at the Death Cell.[1]

In the 2010s, Bernadette appeared during the Calamity in the 2010s as a Confoundable, attempting to extract the memories of both Percival Graves and Newt Scamander. Volunteer members of the Statute of Secrecy Task Force could repel her by casting the Ebublio Jinx on her, returning both wizards to their original timelines.[3]
