The Beast Ownership-Ban was an American wizarding law in or around the 1920s that made keeping magical beasts illegal.[1]

In late 1926, The New York Ghost informed its readers that this law was still valid.[2]

On 6 December 1926, when Newton Scamander told Porpentina Goldstein that he had come to New York to buy an Appaloosa Puffskein, she informed him that breeding magical creatures was forbidden in New York, and that the MACUSA has shut down the shop a year ago.[3]
