Baruffio was a wizard who mispronounced the incantation of whichever spell he was trying to cast at the time, and ended up with a buffalo on his chest. Despite the fact that Flitwick mentions this while teaching Harry and the other first year students Wingardium Leviosa, this could not have been the spell to which he was referring as there is no "f" in the Hover Charm's incantation. He lent his name to some medicine called Baruffio's Brain Elixir.
