Barker was a wizard or witch who co-founded the broomstick-making company Flyte and Barker along with Flyte.[1]
Etymology
The surname Barker derives from an English occupational name for a leather tanner, from Middle English bark(en), "to tan".[2][3] Tree bark was once used in the process of tanning leather.[2][3]
It may also derive from an occupational name for a shepherd, from the Old French word bercher/bercher, "shepherd", from the Late Latin berbicarius, from the Latin berbex, "ram".[2][3]
"Barker" is an English word for a person whose job involves calling out to people walking by in the hope of soliciting customers for a particular business or attraction (such as at a carnival).[4]
