Fred and George Weasley may have been inspired to make this miniature flying car because their father, Arthur Weasley, bewitched a Muggle Ford Anglia during their childhood. Fred, George, and their brother Ron flew it to Harry Potter's house to rescue him from the Dursley's, and brought him back to The Burrow.

Also, on 1 September, 1992, Molly Weasley and Arthur drove their sons and daughter to King's Cross. Harry and Ron, however, did not make it through the barrier, as Dobby had sealed it, so they then decided to fly to Hogwarts in the car. When they arrived, the car burnt out and evicted Harry, Ron and their belongings out, and rode into the Forbidden Forest driverless. Most people were very impressed with Harry and Ron's method of arriving at school, and the whole of Gryffindor threw a party the same night.

Aviatomobile was a burgundy toy car, which was presumably bewitched to fly. They were sold at Fred and George Weasley's shop in Diagon Alley, Weasleys' Wizard Wheezes. It was most likely inspired by a similar, full-sized car enchanted by their father.[1]

Etymology

The "avia" in the name, may come from the Latin "avis" meaning bird, and therefore flying. "Mobile" may come from the Latin "movilis" meaning movable, which explains the mobility of the car.
