- "No deaths, but they were rough... they used the Cruciatus Curse on Tonks' family. Again, trying to find out where you went after you visited them."
- —Remus Lupin tells of the attack[src]

Added by Matoro183In the summer of 1997, the Order of the Phoenix was successful in relocating Harry Potter from 4 Privet Drive by using Polyjuice Potion to create decoys. Despite being ambushed by Death Eaters, including Voldemort himself, Harry and Rubeus Hagrid were able to reach the Tonks house, which had been placed under several protective enchantments. From there, they used a Portkey to travel to the Burrow.

Added by StarstuffOn the same night that Bill Weasley and Fleur Delacour were married, the Death Eaters seized control of the Ministry of Magic and murdered Minister for Magic Rufus Scrimgeour, installing Pius Thicknesse as his replacement. With their new authority, the Death Eaters invaded several locations related to the Order and its members, including the home of Dedalus Diggle (which was burnt down) and the Tonks family residence. Although Ted and Andromeda were tortured by the Cruciatus Curse, they revealed nothing.
