During the height of the Second Wizarding War, when Lord Voldemort was in control of the Ministry of Magic, several Atmospheric Charms in the Ministry malfunctioned causing rain in offices. It caused these effects in Bletchley's office and in the office of the head of the Department of Magical Law Enforcement, Yaxley. Bletchly successfully removed it himself, while Yaxley assigned Reginald Cattermole — actually Ron Weasley in disguise — to repair the charm. This suggests that such charms may be used by wizards in a manner similar to Muggle air-conditioning.
