The Astronomy Room[1] was a room dedicated to the study of Astronomy. Ancient charts draped the walls and gleaming spheres of spun glass orbit one another in mid-air and planetary models and armillary spheres filled the room.

It is on one of the landings ooff of the Astronomy Tower, where Albus Dumbledore was murdered. Space charts hung on the walls and telescopes were positioned at open windows for lessons. The subject taught here, is required for the first year through to the fifth year. It can be dropped in the sixth or seventh year.

Professor Sinistra teaches here in the tallest tower at Hogwarts. In his fifth year, Harry was taking his O.W.L.'s here at midnight when the gamekeeper, Rubeus Hagrid, was confronted by Dolores Umbridge, and a team of aurors. Trying to save him, Transfiguration teacher, Minerva McGonagall was also attacked and took four Stunners to the chest, needing immediate sending to St. Mungo's.

In the first year, they learn more about stars. Later, pupils learn about planets. Even more advanced, they then begin to study the planets' different moons. In between, they just learn more about space in general.
