Argentina, officially the Argentine Republic, is the second largest country in South America. Its capital city is Buenos Aires.
Magical community
Not much is known about the Argentinian wizarding community, although the 2014 Quidditch World Cup was based in the Patagonian Desert, receiving a large amount of people from the international wizarding community.
Magical Education
Argentinian witches and wizards have the option to attend Castelobruxo in the Brazilian rainforest.
Magical government
The Argentinian Council of Magic is the main governing body of the magical community of Argentina. Its President in 2014 was the witch Valentina Vázquez.[2]
Magical games and sports
- Argentina has its own National Quidditch team that has previously reached the quarter finals of the Quidditch World Cup within the last century.[1]
- In 1877, half of this team were found tied up in the basement of a bar in Cardiff, Wales, after the Tournament that Nobody Remembers.
Magical creatures
The ashwinder, basilisk, bundimun, chizpurfle, clabbert, fairy, flobberworm, ghoul, hippogriff, jobberknoll, kneazle, merpeople, mooncalf, plimpy, puffskein, salamander, streeler, werewolf and winged horse are all found worldwide.
Magical history
- In 2014, 427th Quidditch World Cup took place in the Patagonian Desert, in the south of the country. A magical lake was created to host the Fijian Dukuwaqa.[2]
Muggle history
- A production of the musical Two to Tango, staged at The Kingly Court in New York in late 1926, featured a troupe of thirty Argentine dancers.[3]
