Arcturus Black (1901 - 1991) was the eldest son of Sirius Black and Hesper Gamp. He married Melania Macmillan, and they had two children, Lucretia and Orion Black. He was Sirius Black's paternal grandfather. He had a brother called Regulus, and a sister called Lycoris.

- Based on a statement by Horace Slughorn, Arcturus may have been a member of the Slytherin House. However, he attended Hogwarts c. 1912 - 1919, when Slughorn wasn´t Potions teacher.
- Arcturus was only fourteen when he had his daughter Lucretia. His cousin Pollux was thirteen when his wife bore Walburga Black.
- His grandson Regulus Black had Arcturus as a middle name, probably after his grandfather.
- Sirius Black III once said that his grandfather had a Order of Merlin, and this was maybe Arcturus. Is also possible that Sirius was telling about his other grandfather, Arcturus' cousin Pollux.
- On the Black family tree shown on the film adaptation of Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, Arcturus's name is misspelt "Arctorus".

Arcturus is a name of a star. In the House of Black there were also Arcturus Black I and Arcturus Black II (who was a an uncle of Arcturus Black III).
