Aqua Eructo is a spell that can create a jet of clear water, with an icy blue coloured light.
The spell was used by Harry Potter, Hermione Granger, and Ron Weasley quite often during the year of 1994, to put out several fires, minor and major around the Hogwarts school grounds and during the Quidditch World Cup.
It is also possible that Albus Dumbledore used either Aqua Eructo or Aguamenti during a duel with Lord Voldemort at the Atrium in the Ministry of Magic, in an attempt to either drown Voldemort or dampen the fire he had cast.
Known Practitioners
- Harry Potter
- Hermione Granger
- Ron Weasley
- Albus Dumbledore (Possible appearance)
Etymology
The word "Aqua" means in Latin, "Water" and the word "Eructo" is the verb "to raise". "Aqua Eructo" means, roughly translated: "Raising Waters", which is reflected in the spell, which shoots jets of water.
Notes
- The spell first appears in the video game adaptation of Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, it is likely the spell was created to have the same qualities of Aguamenti, just instead had a different casting name as it was first used to put fires out.
- In the movie adaptation of Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix Dumbledore used a nonverbal spell to raise the waters of a nearby fountain and create a sphere of water around Voldemort, presumably in an attempt to drown him or dampen the fire he had cast.
- It is very likely that this spell was Aqua Eructo given its etymology and the effect of that spell. However it may also have been Aguamenti or an entirely different spell.
Appearances
- Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire (video game) (First appearance)
- Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix (film) (Possibly)
