Professor Dame Antonia Creaseworthy (fl. 1609[3] - 1783) was a witch who lived in the 17th[4] and 18th centuries.[5] There were at least two portraits of her at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.[4][6] She served as Headmistress of Hogwarts at an unknown point in time.[7][8]

Biography[]

Creaseworthy lived during the 17th[4] and 18th centuries.[5] During her life, she earned the title "Dame",[6] the female equivalent of the honour of knighthood in Great Britain.[9]

Her name was carved into a wood panel on the wall of Professor Trelawney's Divination classroom at some point.[10]

In 1783,[5] the Daily Prophet reported the murder of Hamish Steed at the hands of a vicious warlock by the name of Flannery,[11] a wizard who had been placed in protective custody by the Ministry of Magic at the time of Flannery's murderous rampage, who nevertheless found him, and, after hours of interrogation, admitted to have used an ancient spell to track down his greatest desire - which happened to be the location of the late Steed. This was one of the things Professor Creaseworthy passed on to her portrait. In 2020, her portrait would later recall this and share what it remembered with a Calamity Investigator.[12]

In the winter of 1993, Creaseworthy's name appeared on the Marauder's Map,[13] possibly indicating that she was still alive at this point, or lingering at Hogwarts as a ghost.[14]

Two portraits of Creaseworthy were hung within Hogwarts Castle sometime after her death.[1][4][6] One was a full-body portrait painted in 1624, in which Creaseworthy was depicted as wearing an orange robe and leaning on a chair.[4] The other was a small portrait in which Creaseworthy was depicted as wearing a blue dress, green shawl/robe, and feathered headdress.[6]
