Anne Rowling (February 5, 1945 as Anne Volant - December 30, 1990) was the mother of Harry Potter author J. K. Rowling.

Volant was born in Luton, Bedfordshire, England to Stanley George Volant and Louisa Caroline Watts Smith[1]. In 1964 at the age of 21 she met Peter Rowling at King's Cross Station in London. A year later, expecting their first child, they married on March 14, 1965 and on July 31 there first daughter Joanne was born in Yate. 23 month later on June 28, 1967 they became there second daughter Dianne Rowling. Rowling died on December 30 in 1990 at the age of 45 of multiple sclerosis. Her widower married in 1993 to Janet Rowling, who has a good relationship to her stepdaughters[2].
