==Etymology==
Alihotsy leaves are probably crushed, dried and smoked by wizards and witches as marijuana is by muggles. When smoked alihotsy would produce a high in which the witch or wizard feels a "lightness of spirit" and perhaps even levitates. However over-use of the drug would induce hysteria that would require treatment with Glumbumble.

Alihotsy (also known as the Hyena tree) is a magical tree. The leaves of the plant can induce hysteria and uncontrollable laughter. The treacle produced by the Glumbumble acts as an antidote to the effects of Alihotsy leaves.[1]

Finely chopped Alihotsy leaves are used as an ingredient for the Laughing Potion. The leaves' mirth-inducing properties can be damaged by stirring the potion too vigorously following its addition to the mixture.[2]

Minister for Magic Wilhelmina Tuft died in office after discovering her allergy to Alihotsy-flavored fudge.[3]

Etymology

The name of the plant is derived from a Sidiki word meaning "lightness of spirit".[4]
