Alexandre Desplat is a French film composer who scored both parts of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.[1][2]

Biography[]

Before Potter[]

Alexandre Desplat has been scoring films since the mid-1980s, but barely any of these films reached U.S. cinemas and the few that did ("The Advocate" and "The Luzhin Defense") went almost unnoticed. The English-language films that first gained him notice in Hollywood were "Girl with a Pearl Earring" and "Birth". 2006's "The Queen" was his first major Oscar contender. Desplat also scored "The Golden Compass" in 2007. While staying true to his roots in French cinema with projects such as the biopic Coco Before Chanel and the prison drama A Prophet, he has also scored three major American films -– "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button", "Julie & Julia", and the second entry in the Twilight franchise, New Moon..[1]

Harry Potter films[]

On 18 January, 2009, Filmscoremonthly.com published their fourth part article noting "The 2009 Top Forty Composer Countdown (in 2010!)". Composer Alexandre Desplat is in No. 3 and in the article, it said that the film scorer had already signed to score the soundtrack to Part I and Part 2 of the film adaptation of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows[1]
