This letter was written by Albus Dumbledore to Harry Potter on 2 September 1996. The letter was delivered by Jack Sloper and contained the date for the first of Dumbledore's private lessons with Harry. It contained, as Harry deduced, the password for the gargoyle outside his study (Acid Pops).[2]
