This letter was written by Albus Dumbledore to Harry Potter on 9 July 1996. Its purpose was to tell Harry he would be picking him up at 4 Privet Drive and letting him off at The Burrow the following Friday, and that, on the way, he would take him with him to Horace Slughorn's current residence.[2]

If it is convenient to you, I shall call at number four, Privet Drive this coming Friday at eleven P.M. to escort you to the Burrow, where you have been invited to spend the remainder of your school holidays.
