Abbott was the surname of a wizarding family. As one of the Sacred Twenty-Eight, they were a pure-blood family up until at least the 1930s[1], but later generations of Abbotts must have married Muggles and/or Muggle-borns or half-bloods, as Hannah Abbott was a half-blood witch.[3] The family's traditional residence was in Godric's Hollow.[4] They are related to the Longbottom family.[5]

Family history[]

Giffard Abbott was a wizard that was possibly in Hufflepuff. There are portraits of him hanging in Hogwarts Castle. He had a pet dog and seemed to have access to a source of food, because Damara Dodderidge frequently asked him if he had any to give her.[6]

Mrs Abbott was the mother of Hufflepuff student Hannah Abbott. In 1996 during the Second Wizarding War, Mrs Abbott was found dead in her home. She was murdered by Death Eaters, followers of Lord Voldemort.[7]

Hannah Abbott was a half-blood witch who was in the same year as the famous Harry Potter. She started attending Hogwarts in 1991 and was sorted into Hufflepuff House. In her fifth year, she became both a prefect and a member of Dumbledore's Army. Dumbledore's Army was an organisation taught and led by Harry Potter. In 1996, Hannah was pulled out of school after her mother was murdered by Death Eaters, but she returned the following year and was again a member of the D.A. She fought in the Battle of Hogwarts on 2 May, 1998.

Later in life, Hannah married classmate Neville Longbottom and became landlady of the Leaky Cauldron, which the couple lived above. She eventually trained as a healer and applied for the job of Matron at Hogwarts.
