The 1990s was a strange, violent period in the history of the wizarding world. The mid-90s was the era of second war against Lord Voldemort, though the origins of it go back much farther. In fact, one might conclude the first war against Voldemort never actually ended and that the second one is a mere continuation.
The 1990s was also the time period when Harry Potter, Ron Weasley, Hermione Granger, Draco Malfoy, Neville Longbottom and Ginny Weasley attended Hogwarts.
