The 1878 Quidditch World Cup was an international Quidditch sporting event that took place in the summer of 1878.[1] It was the 393rd edition of the World Cup.[1][2]

It was a re-staging of the 1877 World Cup, dubbed "The Tournament that Nobody Remembers" — for reasons unknown to history, no one in the wizarding world simply remembers that tournament ever taking place, even though there is ample evidence that it did take place (a venue was chosen, publicity materials were produced, tickets were sold). Theories about what happened range from a mass Memory Charm perpetuated by the Goblin Liberation Front, or the breakout of Cerebrumous Spattergroit. The tournament has been held every four years since the recall.[1]
