Today I've been thinking about the logistics of Polyjuice potion.
The wiki article states that attempting to use it to transform into a half-human can cause effects that won't be reversed automatically. I understand that Hermione's transformation into a cat (making her half human AFTER taking the potion) is used as reference, but what if you're using Polyjuice potion to transform into someone who is already half human, like Hagrid or Flitwick (if he actually is half goblin that is). Is it a similar effect?
So does that mean that if you tried to use Polyjuice to transform into Hagrid, that you'll be stuck being abnormally tall and hairy after the potion wears off?
And what if Hagrid tried to take Polyjuice potion? Can he only transform into other half giants without ill effects? Or can he still transform into a human normally cause he already is half human?
What about using Polyjuice to become someone who is humanoid (but not actually a human) like Griphook (a goblin) or Dobby (a house elf)? Is there ill effects then? (I can see transforming into a centaur having ill effects regardless because of their equine lower body; that's bound to cause issues).
What if you use Polyjuice potion to transform into someone who is an animagus? Will you be able to transform into their animagus as well? I can see it not working if you aren't already an animagus (as you won't be able to perform the magic required) but if you can, will you transform into their animagus when you perform the spell under the influence of Polyjuice?
What about patronuses? Will your patronus remain the same as it normally is after transformation, or will it be the same as the person you transformed into?
How does Polyjuice potion work on other species? Can it work on other species? Can you feed a cat Polyjuice potion so it will transform into another cat without ill effects?
I kind of wish we had more information on the subject. Polyjuice is just so powerful and we know very little about its effects.
So what do you all think?
